Congratulations 2nd Annual Sail Ho Classic on a great event!

The Sail Ho Golf Course at Liberty Station in Point Loma was the site for the 2nd Annual Sail Ho Classic, held on Thursday, March 15th. The event, hosted by Chris Honer, James Haug and Tim Cerimele was a perfect combination of casual golf and purposeful fundraising, with proceeds from the entry fee and raffle benefitting a charity close to the trio’s heart, The Boys and Girls Club.  The event was supported on course by two great sponsors, golfTEC (represented by Neil Gram) and e.LiveLife (represented by Vanessa Huff and president, Richard Fiorentino).  Neal, stationed on the 9th tee, provided each player with a certificate good for a complimentary Swing Evaluation at the GolfTEC studio, and Vanessa set up a great display at her tent on #1 where players were treated to a heavenly mini massage before teeing it up.

While Sail Ho may be a “small” course (9 holes and a par 27) it certainly packs a punch, with the 7th hole being arguably the most challenging par 3 in San Diego! The course was in great condition and although the temperatures were on the low side by San Diego standards, the players enjoyed an excellent pace of play and had lots of opportunities to win prizes with Closest to the Pin contests on every other hole. The players wrapped up the day with a tasty hors d’oeuvres buffet and beverages in the Bar & Grill, and enjoyed a unique spin on the raffle (take note aspiring tournament coordinators!).  The raffle prizes were set up on a table for display and paired with a colored bag. Players purchased tickets and then had a chance to choose which raffle prizes they wanted to try to win by putting their tickets into the corresponding bags.  This definitely boosted raffle ticket sales since the players knew they would have a much better chance to win the prize of their choice!

A successful golf tournament relies heavily on the golf course and the staff, and Sail Ho did not disappoint. PGA Head Professional Tim Parun and his awesome team did a fantastic job of providing us with great golf conditions and even better service. When all was said and done, the day was summed up perfectly by one player who described the day as “a perfect balance of golf and fun that fit into 3 hours”.  We couldn’t agree more.

Thank you to our sponsors!
