Chuck Courtney served as Head Gold Professional at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club for 21 years from 1983-2004. Chuck grew up in La Jolla, about 20 miles from Rancho Santa Fe. As an amateur, Chuck won the San Diego City Championship in 1958 and the San Diego Country Open in 1960 and qualified for the United States Open Championship in 1960 and 1962. During his college years at San Diego State University, he was voted All-American in 1960, 1961, and 1962. During his PGA career, Chuck recorded three tour victories and multiple top- 10 finishes. He is currently Pro Emeritus at RSFGC, most often seen on the range with his students.

The Chuck Courtney Honorary Scholarship Fund (CCHSF) was created by the friends and members of the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club to honor Chuck’s devotion to the game of golf and his support, encouragement and mentoring of local young golfers. The CCHSF provides financial support to deserving but financial challenged students who want to pursue higher education and who have a connection to golf during their high school careers. The foundation also seeks to preserve the legacy of Chuck Courtney and his contributions to golf.
