. Players were greeted at registration by a host of enthusiastic student volunteers and enjoyed a complimentary lunch provided by Chick-Fil-A while they browsed the impressive display of raffle prizes. Those players who bought in on the mulligan package or purchased raffle tickets had the opportunity to participate in the “pick your prize” raffle, which allowed the player to choose which prizes they wanted to put their raffle tickets towards. With a wide variety of over 40 popular prizes (such as a TaylorMade Rocketballz Driver, box seats for the Padres, and a catered dinner for 20 people provided by Chick-Fil –A) the raffle was definitely a highlight of the event.
Another unique and special feature of this tournament was the committee’s Active Duty Military Sponsorship program. Local supporters (both individuals and companies) were able to sponsor the entry fee for a member of our local military, giving that player the opportunity to participate in the event. Thanks to the efforts of Steve Shortill, a total of 17 military members enjoyed a great day of golf and camaraderie, and several who participated in the raffle drawing were big winners! With the overwhelmingly positive response to the sponsorship program this year, the committee has set a minimum goal of doubling those sponsorships in 2013 and including both active duty and veterans in the program.
The committee would like to extend special thanks to the following departments for putting together foursomes and players: Wrestling, Volleyball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Football, Track, Swim, Water Polo and Golf. We would also like to recognize all of those who participated in the event as a player, sponsor or donor – without you our tournament could not be possible.
We look forward to seeing you all again next year, and making the 2013 tournament even bigger and better!
Thank you to our sponsors!
