Mr. Hewitt
Soccer is my passion and I was lucky enough to travel the country and the world playing for many clubs as a young man. With hard work and determination both on the field and in the classroom, I was chosen to receive a soccer scholarship to play for Cal State LA, CSULA. I have now continued my passion for soccer by coaching in the east county. I coached college for four years at San Diego Christian College, high school for several years at Monte Vista High School and Granite Hills High School, and I've coached several different age groups for SD United Futbol Club and now East County Surf Soccer Club.
I am in my 11th year teaching at MMS. I started as a sixth grade Math and Science teacher. I moved quickly into eighth grade Science for many years and now I am grateful to be continuing my 3rd year as a Physical Education Teacher. I am excited to learn new innovative ideas that help me improve my teaching.
Currently, I live in El ÒõAPPµ¼º½ with my amazing wife Brittany, our daughter Nora- 6, son Theo- 4, and our cat Cinder. We love all things outdoors, music, and my son and I love Arsenal FC.
My WHY:
- I have been a teacher and soccer coach in the area for 10+ years. I am entrenched in El ÒõAPPµ¼º½ trying to help the future leaders of tomorrow. I do this because I see myself in each one of my students and players. I too grew up in El ÒõAPPµ¼º½, still live in El ÒõAPPµ¼º½, and went to MMS as a student. I want to help my students achieve their goals and contribute positively to society. Just like a parent who says, "I want you to be better than me," to their children; I say that to my students.
